The Portal We Forgot: Why Surrender Still Matters in Spiritual Motherhood

You don’t have to do the healing.

That sentence alone might challenge everything you’ve absorbed from New Age spirituality. The mantras. The affirmations. The vision boards and manifesting rituals. So much of what’s popular today teaches us to do our healing. To fix, clear, and shift our way into alignment.

But as mothers—spiritual mothers especially—we know there’s a deeper truth:

The healing doesn’t come from more doing. It comes from surrender.

And somehow, that’s what’s missing from the conversation.

We Talk About Ascension, But We Forgot the Descent

In much of modern spirituality, there’s an obsession with rising—

Rising into higher vibrations.

Ascending into light.

Upleveling our energy.

But what about descending into the body?

What about the hips that still ache?

The womb that holds memory?

The chest that forgets to breathe when the baby won’t sleep?

The spiritual path is not just about light.

It’s about embodiment.

It’s about descent.

It’s about staying.

The Portal Is Stillness—and the Body Is the Door

God is doing the healing.

You don’t have to force it.

But you do have to let it happen.

And that requires surrender—not the passive kind, but the embodied kind.

It looks like exhaling fully.

It looks like crying on the floor.

It looks like feeling the tension in your psoas and not running from it.

It looks like lying in stillness and letting Spirit do what you can’t.

Your body is not a delay on the path.

It is the path.

Why Surrender Feels So Hard (Especially for Mothers)

Because we’ve been taught that healing is our job.

That motherhood is a job.

That spirituality is something we have to hustle for, perform for, perfect.

But there’s a deeper wisdom—an ancient, feminine wisdom—that whispers:

You don’t have to earn your healing.

You just have to let it in.

That kind of surrender requires presence.

It asks us to soften, even in the chaos.

To slow down, even when everything screams go.

To trust that when we lie down and open—spiritually, physically, emotionally—we are doing the bravest thing of all.

The Practice: A Prayer of Stillness

So here’s an invitation:

Lie down.

Place a hand on your heart.

One on your womb or your belly.

And say:

“I surrender to it all. Take care of everything.

I open the door through breath, through softness, through stillness.

Let the healing come.”

Then do nothing.

Surrender is the pinnacle of feminine essence.

It’s one of the most natural states we have if we let it be.

This is what New Age forgot.

But you can remember it now.

Stay tuned for practices coming soon.
