Lost Wisdom, Holy Mothering: Reconnecting Through Spirit and Soma
Somewhere along the journey, many of us lost the map.
We stepped into motherhood with open hearts, prayers on our lips, and the deep desire to raise our children with love and intention. And yet, in the midst of diapers, dishes, and tantrums, the sacredness started to slip. The connection to God sometimes feels distant. The connection to our own bodies? Practically forgotten.
But here’s the truth: your body is a sanctuary, and God never left it.
The Lost Wisdom of the Mother
For centuries, I believe women mothered from a place of deep, embodied knowing. They followed the rhythm of the earth, the cycle of the womb, the whisper of Spirit in quiet moments. Wisdom was passed down through presence, through hands-on care, through sacred circles and the unspoken understanding that mothering is holy work.
Today, we scroll more than we sit in silence. We search the internet for answers that once lived in our bones. We ask Google what to do, when we used to ask God and listen to the stillness within.
This is not a judgment—it’s a recognition. And it’s an invitation.
God Speaks Through the Body
God works in many ways through the power of stillness, of prayer, of divine presence. But perhaps you’ve separated that from your flesh. You’ve been taught that the body is something to manage or control—not a sacred part of your spiritual life.
But the body is where God often speaks.
When your chest tightens, when your belly churns, when your breath grows shallow—these are not just stress responses. They are messages. And when you begin to pay attention, not with fear, but with reverence, something holy unfolds.
Your nervous system becomes a compass.
Your womb becomes a well of wisdom.
Your hands, your voice, your heartbeat—all become sacred tools of motherhood.
Spirit + Soma: The Sacred Integration
“Soma” means the living body. It’s not just about muscles and bones—it’s the felt sense of being alive. When we bring Spirit and Soma together, we don’t just believe in God—we feel God. We don’t just parent from theology—we mother from a living, breathing place of presence and peace.
This union helps us:
Recognize when we’re overwhelmed and lovingly regulate ourselves.
Discern between fear and intuition.
Set boundaries from a place of embodied clarity.
Show our children what wholeness looks like.
You Are the Sacred Space
You don’t need to do more. You don’t need to fix yourself.
You are not failing.
You are a temple. A vessel. A living prayer.
And when you bring God back into your body—not just your thoughts—you reclaim the wisdom that was never truly gone. You begin to mother from a place of softness and strength, trust and truth.
This is holy mothering.
This is your return.
